Reporting to: Director of Visitor Engagement & Programs
Position Overview: The Weekend Manager will be responsible for managing museum operations during weekends, supervising staff, and coordinating with other departments within the Museum. The Weekend Manager will ensure that museum visitors have a positive experience and are engaged with the museum’s exhibitions and programs.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Operate ticketing system (Altru) to process sales for general admission, group tours, programs, and memberships
- Orient visitors to specific onsite activities, resources, and accommodations
- Submit daily reports
- Complete Incident Reports when necessary
- Handle customer concerns and know when and to whom to escalate issues
- Understand and show ability to follow emergency procedures
- Recruit, train, and supervise Visitor Services Associates (VSAs) and Managers on Duty (MODs)
- Oversee weekend part-time staff
- Attend program planning meeting either in-person or by Zoom
- Conduct daily opening and closing procedures and lead daily on-shift team meetings
- Refill gallery supplies, look for any issues with exhibits and facilities
- Primary liaison to Miami-Dade County ISD Security Operations and Building Management Systems
- Support visitor studies by collecting feedback or conducting surveys
- Adhere to the museum’s uniform policy and maintain a professional, neat appearance
Qualifications:
- Commitment to providing an exceptional level of customer service to all visitors
- Ability to get along with others, work as a team, and provide team leadership
- The ability to lead with limited direction
- Excellent telephone and communication skills
- Cash handling experience and knowledge of systems
- Proficient in MS Office, particularly Outlook, Word, and Excel
- Open availability Fridays – Sundays
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:
- While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to stop, reach, stand, walk, lift, pull, push, grasp, communicate, and use repetitive motions.
- While performing the duties of this position, the employee may frequently lift and or move 25 pounds of materials.
- The position requires the individual to meet multiple demands from multiple people and interact with the public and other staff.
- Able to work programs/events with mid-to-high noise levels such as performances, exhibition openings, festivals, etc.
Hourly wages breakdown:
- There is a 3-month paid probationary period.
- Rate: $20-$22/hour
- Employee will be eligible for paid time off after one year’s employment
- Employee is expected to work Fridays and Saturdays (9:00 am – 5:30 pm), Sundays (11:00 am – 5:30 pm) plus additional hours as needed
