Type: Part-Time, Non-Exempt
Salary: $20-$22 / hr
Schedule: Three days per week plus in-person or remote attendance to Tuesdays’ team meetings. Must work at least one weekend day and additional hours as needed.

Position Overview: The Visitor Services Manager will be responsible for managing museum operations, supervising staff, and coordinating with other departments within the Museum. The Visitor Services Manager will ensure that museum visitors have positive experiences and are engaged with the Museum’s exhibitions and programs. This is not a content development position but rather one of hospitality.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Operate ticketing system (Altru) to process sales for general admission, group tours, programs, and
  • memberships; submit Altru reports as requested
  • Orient visitors to specific onsite activities and resources
  • Provide accessibility accommodations
  • Submit daily reports
  • Complete Incident Reports when necessary
  • Handle customer concerns and know when and to whom to escalate issues
  • Understand and show ability to follow emergency procedures
  • Recruit, train, and supervise Visitor Services Associates (VSAs) and Managers on Duty (MODs)
  • Oversee part-time staff
  • Attend program planning meetings (Tuesdays) either in-person or by Zoom
  • Conduct opening and closing procedures and lead on-shift team meetings
  • Refill gallery supplies, look for any issues with exhibits and facilities
  • Primary liaison to Miami Dade County ISD Security Operations and Building Management Systems
  • Help support visitor studies by collecting feedback or conducting surveys
  • Adhere to the Museum’s uniform policy and maintain a professional, neat appearance

 Qualifications:

  • Commitment to providing an exceptional level of customer service to all visitors
  • Ability to get along with others, work as a team, and provide leadership
  • The ability to make good decisions with limited direction
  • Excellent telephone and communication skills
  • Cash handling experience and knowledge of systems
  • Proficient in MS Office, particularly Outlook, Word, and Excel

Physical Demands:

  • While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to stop, reach, stand, walk, lift, pull, push, grasp, communicate, and use repetitive motions.
  • While performing the duties of this position, the employee may frequently lift and or move 25 pounds of materials.
  • The position requires the individual to meet multiple demands from multiple people and interact with the public and other staff.
  • Able to work programs/events with mid-to-high noise levels such as performances, exhibition openings, festivals, etc.
