SUMMARY:Sold Out - Exploring the Everglades: A Walk Through the River of Grass
DESCRIPTION:Join HistoryMiami Museum and Everglades National Park in celebration of the park’s 75th anniversary! Experience this unique landscape on an off-trail hike as you reflect upon the natural environment. Explore how the Everglades inspired a movement to preserve our wetlands and how it has continued to influence art and culture in Miami and beyond. \n\n\n\nTour will include a slough slog (wet hike)\, which will provide a hands-on view of the River of Grass and reveal the hidden world of a cypress dome. \n\n\n\nIn partnership with Everglades National Park \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAll participants must bring the following:\n\n\n\nWaterSturdy close toed\, lace-up shoesLong Pants\n\n\n\nThe following items are suggested:\n\n\n\nSunscreenLong sleeve shirtInsect repellentBinocularsSnacksGarbage bag\, towel\, and change of clothes (for the drive home!)\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFeatured Speakers:\n\n\n\nT. Wheeler Castillo\n\n\n\nThom Wheeler Castillo lives and works in Miami\, FL; Graduated from PNCA\, Intermedia. Wheeler Castillo is interested in the landscape and ecosystems\, past (art history) and present (Environmental Studies); he works from an interdisciplinary approach in his relentless pursuit of poetry\, art history\, earth science and anthropology. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMeeting Location:\n\n\n\nErnest F.
