Florida Folklife Program – A component of the Florida Department of State’s Division of Historical Resources, the Florida Folklife Program (FFP) documents and presents the folklife, folklore, and folk arts of the state. The FFP coordinates a wide range of activities and projects designed to increase the awareness of Floridians and visitors alike about our traditional culture.


Florida Folklife Collection, Florida State Archives – Created by Florida folklorists, the Collection consists of materials that document the performances by, interviews with, and fieldwork surveys of folk musicians, artisans, storytellers, folklife interpreters, and other Florida peoples and their traditions.


Florida Folklore Society – The Society’s main function is to serve as the voice of all the members for the purpose of distribution of news, ideas and information. The purpose of the Society is to advance the appreciation, research and study of folklore in all its aspects.


Folkvine – This website, produced by the Folkvine Group, uses the experiences of Florida artists and their communities to create online scholarship.


Florida Folk Festival – A celebration of the music, dance, stories, crafts and food that make Florida unique.


National Resources

The American Folklife Center, Library of Congress – The American Folklife Center was created by Congress in 1976 and placed at the Library of Congress to “preserve and present American folklife” through programs of research, documentation, archival preservation, reference, service, live performance, exhibition, public programs, and training.


The American Folklore Society – The Society, founded in 1888, is an association of people who study and communicate knowledge about folklore throughout the world.


Smithsonian Center for Folklife and Cultural Heritage – The Center is dedicated to the collaborative research, presentation, conservation, and continuity of traditional knowledge and artistry with diverse contemporary cultural communities in the United States and around the world.


Local Learning – Local Learning prepares young people, their teachers, and their families to discover, research, and draw on traditional culture and local knowledge to enrich education and create stronger communities.
