Sold Out – Cemetery Series: Woodlawn Park North Cemetery Walking Tour

Explore the history of one of the oldest cemeteries in Miami – Woodlawn Park North Cemetery – with HistoryMiami Museum’s Coordinator of Education Programs and Community Engagement, Ingrid E. Argueta and Resident Historian, Dr. Paul S. George. Reflect upon the lives of internationally recognized figures including Manuel Artime, a leader of the Bay of Pigs Invasion; Cuban-Exile leader Jorge Mas Canosa; and former Cuban and Nicaraguan presidents interred at the cemetery.

Ingrid E. Argueta
Coordinator of Education Programs and Community Engagement

Ingrid E. Argueta was born in Guatemala and immigrated to Miami when she was 7 years old. Although not a native Miamian, she is a 305-er at heart. Ingrid has remained true to her indigenous roots and is passionate about Native American history and culture. She is best known for her eco-history tours of Miami’s historic sites, neighborhoods, and waterways. Ingrid currently serves as HistoryMiami Museum’s Coordinator of Education Programs and Community Engagement and has been with the museum for 10 years.

Paul S. George, Ph.D.
Resident Historian

For over three decades, HistoryMiami Museum’s Resident Historian Dr. Paul S. George has toured his way to local, national, and international acclaim with his continuing series of historic tours. Through walking, coach, and boat tour experiences, Dr. George has welcomed tour participants on a memorable journey of South Florida through its historic neighborhoods, landmarks, and sites. As a Miami native, author, and former college professor, Dr. George has gained fame for his uncanny ability to recall the most impressive details about the people and places that make South Florida so unique.

We recommend bringing a water bottle, wearing light clothing, and comfortable shoes for walking. An umbrella is also recommended.
Please meet Museum staff for check-in between 9:15 am – 9:55 am. They will be waiting for you outside the main office of Caballero Rivero Woodlawn North Cemetery.

The tour will take place on paved and unpaved pathways that may have uneven terrain.
