Celebrate Coral Gables’ centennial anniversary with HistoryMiami Museum! Walk along the tree-canopied streets of The City Beautiful with Resident Historian, Dr. Paul George, as you explore the community that George Merrick designed. This tour highlights some of Coral Gables’ most notable landmarks, including the Venetian Pool, Merrick House, the Biltmore Hotel, the DeSoto Fountain, Coral Gables Congregational Church, and Poinciana Place.

Tour includes a visit inside the Merrick House.

Resident Historian

For over three decades, HistoryMiami Museum’s Resident Historian Dr. Paul S. George has toured his way to local, national, and international acclaim with his continuing series of historic tours. Through walking, coach, and boat tour experiences, Dr. George has welcomed tour participants on a memorable journey of South Florida through its historic neighborhoods, landmarks, and sites. As a Miami native, author, and former college professor, Dr. George has gained fame for his uncanny ability to recall the most impressive details about the people and places that make South Florida so unique.

We recommend bringing a water bottle, wearing light clothing, and comfortable shoes for walking. Additional considerations may include: bringing an umbrella and wearing sun protection.
Please meet Museum staff for check-in between 9:30 am – 9:55 am. They will be waiting for you in front of the Merrick House, located at 907 Coral Way, Coral Gables, FL.
There is complimentary parking available in a parking lot behind the house. Please do not park in front of the house in the driveway.
The tour will take place on paved sidewalks, which may include uneven terrain, and in part inside a historic home which may not be ada accessible. To request materials in accessible format, sign language interpreters, and/or any disability accommodation, please contact Hana Squires, Accessibility Coordinator, at accessibility@historymiami.org or call (305) 375-1621 at least two weeks in advance of your visit to initiate your request.
