Sold Out – Historic Morningside Walking Tour with Dr. George and Dade Heritage Trust

Discover the significance of Morningside, the City of Miami’s first historically designated neighborhood, with HistoryMiami Museum’s Resident Historian, Dr. Paul George and Dade Heritage Trust’s Executive Director, Christine Rupp. Learn the history of this boom-era suburb as you view architectural styles of the early twentieth century, including Mediterranean Revival, Art Deco, and Masonry vernacular. See historic Morningside Park, with its stunning views of Biscayne Bay.

Tour to include an inside look into a historic home in the Morningside community. Ticket includes complimentary family pass to HistoryMiami Museum.

Dr. Paul S. George, Resident Historian at HistoryMiami Museum

For over three decades, HistoryMiami Museum’s Resident Historian Dr. Paul S. George has toured his way to local, national, and international acclaim with his continuing series of historic tours. Through walking, coach, and boat tour experiences, Dr. George has welcomed tour participants on a memorable journey of South Florida through its historic neighborhoods, landmarks, and sites. As a Miami native, author, and former college professor, Dr. George has gained fame for his uncanny ability to recall the most impressive details about the people and places that make South Florida so unique.

Christine Rupp, Executive Director at Dade Heritage Trust

Christine Rupp is the Director of Dade Heritage Trust. She joined the organization in November of 2015 and has made public awareness, advocacy, partnership-building and education her priorities. In addition to creating new educational programs, a heritage tour program, and an affordable housing initiative, the organization is performing historic neighborhood surveys to determine the number of potentially designated properties in urban Miami neighborhoods. Ms. Rupp has established meaningful relationships with the National Trust for Historic Preservation, local governments and a host of like-minded non-profit organizations to assist with architectural, environmental and cultural preservation issues in Miami-Dade County.
