50 Years of Music
January 27, 2023 - August 20, 2023
Recognizing the life and career of legendary singer-songwriter Willy Chirino, this exhibition documents a career spanning five decades through a collection of his awards, concert attire, photos, videos, and personal items. The Cuban-born artist, who came to the United States in 1960 as part of Operación Pedro Pan, has recorded dozens of albums, won GRAMMY® and Latin GRAMMY® awards, and was instrumental in the development of the 1970s Miami Sound. Join us in celebrating one of Miami’s music icons—Willy Chirino… One Man, One City, One Dream.
Some items you can expect to see in the exhibition include:
- 2006 GRAMMY Award
- 2014 Latin GRAMMY Award
- 1998 Billboard Award
- Suit and wedding dress from Willy Chirino’s wedding
- The ensemble used during a visit to Guantanamo Naval Base, and more!
This exhibition is presented by Leon Medical Centers with additional support from ArtesMiami.
