Cultural Encounter: Trinidadian Steel Pan Music

Join us at the panyard, the home and rehearsal space of steel drum ensemble, 21st Century Steel Band! Immerse yourself in the world of Trinidadian steel pan music and tour the space where these instruments are not only played but made. Larger than life creatures will fill the galleries at HistoryMiami Museum for our newest exhibition Mythic Creatures: Dragons, Unicorns & Mermaids. The exhibition traces the natural and cultural roots of some of the world’s most enduring mythological creatures from Asia, Europe, the Americas, and even how Miamians embrace their own mythic fantasies.  Organized by the American Museum of Natural History in New York, visitors to the exhibition will come face-to-face with a 17 foot-long dragon with a wingspan of over 19 feet, a giant Kraken sea monster with 12-foot-long tentacles rising from the gallery floor, and a…
